Abstract

During the last decade, recent history, seen as an historical
perspective, has had an important development in Latin America,
especially in countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil
and, to a lesser extent, Chile. However, over the last years,
the interest to study this is on increase, particularly the topics
related to the civic-military dictatorship and the transition process
to democracy. The new political history has made a major
contribution to it. The present article seeks to characterize the
recent history in Chile, paying special attention to contributions
made from a new political history. Investigation about
political parties and political culture is an example of this.

Keywords: Chile, recent history, a new political history, political
parties, political culture.
