Abstract

This article analyzes the role of the Junta de Mayores Contribuyentes
on Chilean electoral mechanism, in election of Juntas
Calificadoras de Electores, registry key stage who could
access the vote, form the promulgation of Electoral Act in1874.
As well as, describes the socio-political characteristics of this
corporation based on Major Contributor’s list of Copiapo, La
Serena, Santiago, Valparaiso, Rancagua, Talca and Concepción
for 1876’s presidential, congress and municipal election.
