Representation Of The Crisis And Explanatory Speeches Of The Public Opinion In Arica Appeared In Written Press (1929-1984)
Abstract
The aim of this work is to examine the explanatory speeches
published by official and journalistic sources, since the incorporation
of Arica to the Chilean national sovereignty (1929).
The explanatory discourses that emanated from local elites,
develop a movement, in which the responsibility of the situation
“descends” from the “centralist conspiracies” to the local
divisions. This route is the incorporation of Arica to different
spaces, associated with the emergence of new actors in discourse.
Keywords: Contemporary History, speeches, regionalism, Arica.
