The name of Johann Gustav Droysen will be undeniably associated with two elements: to be one of the great representatives of historicism, and to the creation of the Hellenism or Hellenistic concept. The creation of the hellenism term obeys to the conception of the image of Alexander the Great as the creator of a new epoch, appreciations that can be observed in the volume I of its History of the Hellenism, that corresponds to the History of Alexander the Great. This work, which is what concerns us and which is the one that initiates Droysen as a historian, is undoubtedly and in spite of the criticisms made by historiography contrary to historicism, it is an essential work for the study of Alexander. Our research aims to analyze the sources of Alexander through the eyes of Droysen and how he manipulated them to organize an idealizing discourse around the figure of Alexander and, also connect them with their own experiences, that is, to look into the history of Alexander the answers to solve the concretion of the German unit.
