Abstract

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how through various journalistic documents, declassified files of the Chilean dictatorship and one case in particular, the secret police of Chile (DINA/CNI), developed processes of reformulation of the discourse with the idea of altering news events related to crimes that transgressed human rights. Specifically, the case of the teacher Marta Ugarte is presented as emblematic, being the only one person detained and missing and thrown into the sea that appeared on the Chilean coast.

Keywords: Journalism, secret police, reformulation, distortion, Marta Ugarte.
