Roger Chartier And Paul Ricoeur: Representation And Truth As Foundations Of Work Historian

Abstract

The article establishes an analytical link between the reflections on the work of historians (métier d ́historien) in Roger Chartier and the critical philosophy of history in Paul Ricoeur. This relationship is presented based on the notions of representation and truth, tools that have served the authors to position the historian discipline as a social science against the postmodern postulates or narrativist historiography.
