The Società Dante Alighieri In Spain During The Fascist Period (1922-1945)

Abstract

This paper studies the role of the Società Dante Alighieri in
Spain as part of Italy’s Fascist propaganda that wanted to establish
the image of a benevolent regime abroad. It is based on
this institution’s archive documents and aims to shed light on
the evolution of the committees that were active in the cities
of Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao and San Sebastian during that
period.
