Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published is not under consideration by any other journal (or has provided an explanation in the comments to the editor / a).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • Maximum number of pages: 30 pages. Page size: letter. Margins: 3 cm each side. Line spacing: 1,5. Font: Arial, size 11. Footnotes: Single space, Arial 9. Images, graphics, and charts: Permission to reproduce images is the author’s responsibility.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Guidelines of the author / a, which appear in About the Journal.
  • If sent to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, should follow the instructions in Ensuring an anonymous evaluation.

1.- ARTICLES

1.1.- Referee system

All submitted papers will be under the Editorial Board review. If the articles meet the requirements and guidelines of the journal, they will be sent to two external reviewers (blind peer review process).
In case there is contradicting review, there will be a third reviewer. Authors will be informed at the proper time about the acceptance or rejection for publication of their articles and will receive their corresponding evaluations.
In case accepted articles need to be modified, such modifications and changes must be done within one month.
It is incumbent only on the Editoral Board to arrange the publication of the articles.

1.2.- Formal aspects

Maximum number of pages: 30 pages.
Page size: letter.
Margins: 3 cm each side.
Line spacing: 1,5.
Font: Arial, size 11.
Footnotes: Single space, Arial 9.
Images, graphics, and charts: Permission to reproduce images is the author’s
responsibility.

1.3.- Structure

Title of the article: centered, bold font.
Information about the author: Please include the name of the institution and
author’s e-mail address.
Abstract both in English and Spanish (maximum number of words: 250).
Key words: 4 to 5.
Body
Reference section at the end of the article (only those references cited in the
article, following the citation guidelines of the journal)

1.4.- Reference list: books

Author, Name, Title of work. Location, Publisher, Year of publication, p. or pp.
Ex: Collier, Simon, Chile: la construcción de una república 1830-1865. Política e
ideas. Santiago, Ediciones Universidad Católica de Chile, 2005, p.56 o pp. 56 – 59.
Citing a text immediately after the full citation of a source: Ibíd., p. 78
Citing a text after the full citation of a source: Collier, Chile: la construcción de una
república, p. 60.
The term “op. cit.” may not be used under any circumstance.

1.5. - Reference list: articles.

1.7.- Reference list: articles in periodicals and general works

Title of periodical or newspaper. Location. Date of publication. “title of the article”
(page number, if any).
In case the article has an author, the reference will be done as follows:

issue. Location. Date.
Ex: Salinas, Rolando. “Salud, ideología y desarrollo social en Chile, 1830-1950”.

1.8.- Unpublished or archived material.

1.9.- Images, graphics, and charts:

All visual material shall be related to the matter dealt with in the paper, numbered,
and inserted at the end of the article (before the reference section). Good image
resolution is required.

1.10.- Electronic sources (online document, news, etc)

Name of the article, media and date must be clearly stated. (the http link must be
included)

2.- REVIEWS

Author(s), title of book, publisher, location, year and number of pages.
Information about the author: Please, include the name of the institution and
author’s email address.
Number of pages: 5 to 6.
Page size: letter.
Margins: 3 cm each side.
Font: Arial, size 11.
